Soul shook his head excitedly. "No, but I'd love to try one!"
Sephen smiled. "Well then, c'mon, you've got to try one!"

The two led the way to the fortresses kitchen where a dragon in human form was already busy cooking that day's dinner. He turned around as the three came in and smiled.
"Well, hello youngsters. Dinners wont be ready but I can give you some scraps if you"re willing to help out."

The hybrid and Sephen nodded. "We'd love to help."

"Yeah," Drake agreed. "tells us what to do, Chef Gormez!"
Gormez had them start by chopping up some vegatables and skinning rabbits.
"What's for dinner anyway?" he asked.
"Well, I figured since we've having almost nothing but southern food I'd spice things up and bring in some old-fashion cooking from the north."
"hey, that'd be what my brother's having!"
Gormez laughed. "I forgot he was stationed there. Speaking of which, how is young Garreth?"
"Welll, I haven't heard from him in a while, but I'm sure he's doing great."

Soul looked at Gormez. "Why do you guys mostly have southern food?"

"Well, we're in the south, aren't we?" he grinned, and then left out a gut-fill laugh.
"I dont' think I've seen you around before, and ya'v got an odd smell about chya. What's yur name?"

OOC: I changed his accent all of the sudden.

OOC: It's the accent changing dragon. RUN!!!!!! JK.

"I'm Soul. Pleased to meet you. And yes, I'm fairly new, but don't let the smell bother you. I'm not a threat." he added, in case Gormez figured out it was drake scent.

Gormez smiled. "Ah, I see. You're a hybrid like our boy Drake here. No worries, son, I'm not judgemental like most here. You can't blame them too much though, with all of us being so close to the drake's lands." He gave a knowing grin.

Soul smiled. "Yeah, i think I'm mostly dragon. It must be the reason I'm so nice."
"Or maybe it's because you weren't raised by a drake." Sephen pointed out.
"Or that too."

Gormez nodded, adding spices to his stew. "It is how we live that detirmines what we are like, not what we are. Our Head DragonKnight is a prime example of that."

Soul had to smile at that. "You mean Drey, don't you?"

He winked. "that's precisely who I mean."
After a while he had them stop.
"You boys have worked enough today. I'll take care of the last minute touches. As a reward, here are some sweet rolls."
Gormez pulled out a bowl of freshly made rolls and offered some to them.

Sephen and Soul said their thanks and took their share.

They left the chef to his final preps and took to wandering the halls as they ate. Down one of the corridors they heard arguing.
"I wonder what's that about..." Drake mumbled out loud.

Sephen looked at Drake. "Maybe we should chekc it out." He looked at Soul. "Maybe it's about you."
Soul narrowed his eyes. "I hope not."

"Let's go see," Drake said, and led the way down. He stopped near the door when he heard his dad's voice.
"You've got to be kidding!"
That didn't sound good.
"You all saw that boy's memories, you sensed his intentions! Having him checked by the Elders is completely unessesary!"
"But we do not think that, sir," said another voice. "Regardless of how the boy thinks, he's still a drake, and subjected to drake instincts. We don't what he may yet do, and I believe the Elders should decide this."
Greebs voice came in. "...You're still new at this, sir. We've been down here a long while now, and we know what we're doing. I agree this boy means no harm, but this is something that would effect all the dragons, and the Elders need to hear of it. It wouldn't look good if it was heard that our newly placed DragonKnight leader was withholding crucial information, would it?"
For a moment Drake thought his Dad might actually snap, but after a moment his calm reply came.
"...You're right. I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking too clearly. My recruits are due for a visit to the castle, so I will deliver Soul to the Elders personally."
"It's understandable; your position demands a lot."
The door opened, making them jump back. Drey's face still look frustrated, but he gave a start when he saw them.
"Oh, hey, what are you guys doing here?" he said, closing the door.
"Dad, what's going on?" Drake asked, forgetting about on duty reference.
Drey didn't seem to catch it. "It's the damn racism, that what," he growled in frustration, shooting the door a glare, then sighed. "Oops, sorry about that. That's very professional, is it?"

Soul lowered his head. "They still don't trust me, do they?"

Drey sighed again. "They don't trust hybrids. They still can't shake off the belief that a dragon mix is tainted blood. It was hard enough with a human dragon mix, because it was forbidden in the first place, but drakes are our mortal enemy. I can understand the reason they have to consider you carefully but still..." he growled and sighed in frustration again. "I wish the world would hurry up and change faster."
He straightened up and smiled at the three. "Well, I suppose good news comes from all this. You guys get to meet my brother."

Sephen smiled. "Really?!"
Soul just sighed.

Drey grinned at Sephen's excitement, but looked at Soul. He smiled and put a hand on his head.
"Hey, don't worry, it doesn't sound as bad as you think. I'll get you through this if I have any say. And trust me," he winked. "I have plenty of say. Plus, I'm pretty confident the King will back me up on this."

Soul stared up at Drey, hope in his emerald-green eyes.

"alright now, Sephen, You and Drake go let the others know we're changing course, and get ready to go the castle."

Sephen and Soul nodded, and headed off to where the others were.

*a few days pass as the DragonKnights finished up their initial business with the Border Division, and then they were on their way to the castle*

"Alright boys, we're here," Drey said gesturing to the layout far below them. "Bank left and prepare to land...doing alright there, Soul?"

Soul gave Drey a cocky grin. "What, you think 'cause I'm half drake I fly crappy like one?"
