Sephen stopped and started growling, too. "Drake, are you alright?!"
I sighed. "Of course, they always smell the drake part first."

"It's fine, it's fine, guys calm down."
Venge approached hesitantly. "Drake, who is this? He doesn't look it but why does he smell like a drake?"

OOC: Okay, I think I'm going to third person.

Sephen tilted his head to one side in confusion as the odd drake answered, "I'm a dragon/drake hybrid, that's why. And I'm of no threat to any of you."

Venge gave a start. "Really? SERIOUSLY?" He glanced between Drake and Soul. Drake shuffled uncomfortably, worrying what his friend might be thinking. It certainly would look like he was letting his own personal relation rule out here, but it wasn't. He really felt this kid wasn't all that dangerous.
"Hey, you guys having a party without telling me?"
Drake jumped. (OOC: and no, it's not Kragis! ) "Dad?! I-I mean Drey?!!"
Dreyden appeared almost as if from nowhere right beside Venge, looking at Soul curiously. "Who's this?"

Soul was about to answer, but Sephen beat him to it. "This is Soul, a dragon/drake hybrid we just met." The hyrid just blinked.
This older dragon didn't react in the the way they usually do. Odd...

Drey raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Really?" He walked up to Soul, a look on inspection on his face. And then smiled.
"So which one was the dragon?" he asked, his voice friendly. Venge looked astonished.

Soul shook his head. "I dunno. My mother, i think."

He nodded, and stuck out his hand. "My name is Dreyden, by the way." I'm a half-breed, too.

Soul blinked, turned into a human, and grabbed Drey's hand. "Umm... Nice to meet you?"
Sephen watched. Poor Soul, this is probably his first time interacting with dragons without hostilities...

He nodded, and, using the skin contact as a path, connected straight into his mind. Relax and this won't hurt; I'm just going to look at your memories. If you have nothing to hide you have no need to struggle, he said, and dove into his thoughts and memories.

Soul relaxed and gave all he had to Drey. It's not much. I don't remember my parents at all. All I remember was that I was left abandoned here, and had to fend for myself. Dragons glared down at me everywhere I went, and drakes, for some reason, hunted me everywhere I turned. I've never been wanted in this world, but I mustered up enough hope to keep carrying on and not commit suicide. I had hope that mabye the fact that i'm a hybrid would come in handy someday.

I understand the feeling, believe me. It wasn't fun growing up half dragon, half human either He let Soul go. "I can see now you truly mean no one harm, but I'm afraid we won't be able to let you go."
Drake stared at him for a moment. That's right...even if he is harmless, we still have the code to follow, he thought to himself.

Sou lowered his head and kneeled donw in submission. "I understand. I've already come this far into my life. go ahead and do what you want."
Sephen leaned over and whispered into Drake's ear, "Why is he giving in so easily?"

"Well, think about it," Drake whispered back. "He's a half-breed, and he's lived alone for a long time. He probably doesn't even care what happens to him at this point."
Drey nodded to Soul. "If you will follow me, then. Drake, Sephen, Venge, I want you three to head back to the base and give them a heads up on who we're bringing. Let's not mention the drake part just yet, though."

Sephen nodded. "Yes sir!" he siad, then motiooned for the others to follow.
Soul stood. "Alright, lead the way, Dreyden."

Drake and Venge took off with him. Drey took it slow beside Soul.
"If you don't mind me asking, how old are you, Soul?" he said.

"16. Not realy sure of my dragon or drake years, though." he said with a smile.

Drey nodded. "And you've lived out here on your own? ...that must have been tough."

Soul laughed nervously. "Yeah, it was at first, but I eventually got used to it." He was silent for a moment, then looked at Drey. "So, how come you weren't hostile towards me?"

Drey pondered that for a moment. "I guess mostly because I was surprised; for the longest time now I've come to believe I was the only dragon hybrid out there. I guess I felt a kind of kinship to you." Then he grinned. "Which is really unprofessional of me. Jeez, I just hear the superiors now; this sure to give them another excuse as to why a half-breed like me shouldn't have any standings in the dragon politics." Then he cleared his throat. "Sorry, I don't mean to ramble; I have a bad habit of doing that."

Soul just smiled, the gold markings on his face beginning to show from the sunlight. "That's fine. I haven't heard a friendly voice in ages."

Drey gave a small start at the markings' appearance. "Well that's interesting...you said you think your mother was the dragon?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Why?"

He paused for a moment, pondering. "Hmm...I'm thinking I may have met her somewhere down the line...or heard of an old legend. I've never heard of a drake having markings like those, so i don't think they would be past down from that side of your family." Drey smiled and poked him gently in the forehead where one of the golden arrangements formed.

Soul just blinked, then shook his head and gently pushed Drey's finger away. "So, what exactly are you going to do to me?"
