Through the Eyes of a Beast

This news put me a little more on edge. So he's spoken with the werewolf king. Was he after me now as well...? I got ready to bolt.

I looked at Vesmira curiously, then laughed. "What're you ready to bolt for? I'm not here to catch you, I just want to ask what you're doing in my secret spot."

Rage pulsed through me. "You're secret spot?! This is my secret spot! I've been coming here ever since I was little!"

I didn't even jerk at her rage, but instead just blinked. "Really? You have? Me too, but how could we have not sensed each other?"

This stumped me. If he had been coming here too, how DID we not sense eachother? Or even smell eachother?
i turned to stare at the water. maybe this was another secret this place had.

I just stared at her, trying to think of something to say.

I felt him stare and was irked. I growled. "What, got a problem with something?" No one other than my father was allowed to stare at me directly without my permission.

I came back to reality and stared at the ground. "Sorry, I was just thinking of what to say."

Regret suddenly washed over me, and I'd never thought it would be for a wolf. This pup was being nice, that fact alone should say he's different from the others. I should really fix my attitude.

Suddenly, an odd smell hit my nostrils. I got in front of Vesmira and turned into my wolf form, my lips curled in a snarl.

I jumped, smelling it too. "What is it?" My voice quivered.

"I don't know, but it smells familiar..." And at that moment, a raven came and landed on my head.
"Honestly, furball, do you have to growl at everything?"
I turned around and looked at Vesmira. "Don't worry, it's just Raven. She's annoying but harmless."

I blinked a couple times, an unnessesary action. "A talking bird?" Not that it wasn't heard of. Many humans have pet birds that talk. Just never ravens...

Raven laughed. "Nope, not even close." She flew off of my head and landed, transforming into her human form. "I'm kind of like Kray, just a raven instead of a wolf."

I gave another start and jumped back. "I've never heard of such a thing! how is that possible...?"

Raven leaped onto my back and chuckled. I let out a soft growl and shook her off. She just stood back up and pet my muzzle. "It's a curse my family has had for many generations. Like I asked Kray, have you ever heard of the saying 'The Wolf seeks the Raven?' You don't have to answer, but it means that werewolves like furball here seek out us Ryoshimas that have this curse and keep us as their guides."

"Ryoshimas?" Where have I heard that name before?

I saw the look on Vesmira's face. "What, have you heard of them?"

"I don't know," I said. "The name sounds familiar." Slowly I was getting used to this pup. But that didn't mean I trusted him fully.

Raven turned into a raven again and landed on my back. "So, you're that vampire girl we saved the other night, aren't you? What did your dad think of us saving you?"
I just rolled my eyes. Always thinking about herself.

I narrowed my eyes. "Actually, daddy is planning on dealing with you wolves as soon as the lycans are delt with." A lie, but knowing him he's bound to turn his prejudice to the werewolves sooner or later.

I looked at Vesmira in surprise. "B-but, didn't you tell him how we saved you? Or does he not care?"

"Of course he doesn't care," I grumbled and sat down on a rock next to the water. "he doesn't care about anything but eliminating the wolves. He takes the stupid rivalry to heart." I grimaced at myself; since when did I pour my guts out to a wolf?

I whimpered a little and walked over and lay down next to Vesmira, but kept at lesat 12 inches between us. "Why are you all fighting each other? Why can't all of the mythical creatures live in peace? Wouldn't it be easier than just constantly fighting?"

I stared down distantly, my guard almost down. "I don't know," i said softly. "All I know is that this war has been going on for generations. My father won't tell me the reason why; he's just saving me for the final battle, his secret weapon to end the fued."
